's Letter

Dear Host Family Thank you so much for opening the doors of your home to me and for being willing to participate in this exciting exchange program. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to stay with you and experience American life firsthand. I hope this letter helps you get to know me better. My name is Ona. I am a high school student from Spain, and I have always been passionate about learning new cultures and languages. I want to attend high school in the US because I am sure it will give me the opportunity to grow personally, academically, and socially. In addition, I will be able to put my English to use, as I am passionate about the language and have a knack for it. I am excited to live with an American family because I believe this will allow me to fully immerse myself in their way of life and learn more about their traditions and customs. I am sure that living with an American family will give me insight into different ways of thinking and problem-solving, which will be valuable both in my studies and in my personal experience. Furthermore, I would also love to share my own culture with you and teach you about life in my home country. My daily life is very full. I go to school every day and I enjoy studying subjects like history or English. I speak three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English. In my free time, I am immersed in the equestrian world. I practice dressage, I was selected for a team to compete, and I am getting very good results and rankings. In addition, I am passionate about music and theater. I take weekly violin lessons and study at an acting school. Apart from my hobbies, we have a very active cultural life. I love going with my family to classical music and opera concerts. We also attend the theater and the cinema regularly, and we like to visit good restaurants to have a gastronomic culture. This last part is being a bit rough for me. I try everything, but I don't always like it. I am happy with fried eggs and French fries. All this is part of my education and I love it. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family outdoors. A fun fact about me is that I whistle very well. It's a fun and curious gift that I have. When people hear me whistling they think I'm a very old person and when they see me they are surprised, we laugh a lot. At first, I am a shy and very cautious person, but when I get to know people I am very funny, and I love to talk a lot about any subject. Family is really important to me. I have a very close relationship with my parents, and we really enjoy spending time together. I live with my mother, my stepfather and my sister. My mother used to work as a train mechanic, now she is working in the engineering department, she is a very kind and brave woman, I love that she is always willing to make any plan, even the craziest ones and she loves adventures. My stepfather is a firefighter, and he also likes culture and history. He is studying humanities as a hobby. The best thing about him is that he always has a good story to tell and that he cooks wonderfully. My sister is 5 years old, she is very active and creative, but in this exchange I would like to be in a family without children. I would like to add a fact and that is that I have planned, sought out and presented this exchange by surprise and voluntarily to my parents. They were surprised when I explained it to them, and they say that they are very happy and proud of the initiative I have had, although at the same time they are sad for all this time without them. They support me and are happy to see me so excited about this project. I hope that you have been able to get a closer idea of who I am. I am very excited and grateful with the idea of becoming part of your family and being able to create memories together. Not only that, but I hope to be able to bring you very good experiences. Thank you again for welcoming me to your home. Warm regards, Ona.
