Dear host family,
I would first like to sincerely thank you for welcoming me into your family for 10 months and helping make my dream come true. I am French, from the south of France, and I am currently in ninth grade. I love learning new things and spending time with my family and friends.
Cinema and filmmaking are very important passions to me. I am taking a cinema option at school, where I’ve already created a short film and a documentary. In addition to cinema, I have been practicing theater for three years and dancing since I was very young, particularly contemporary, African, and classical dance. I’m also enrolled in aeronautics courses during my breaks at school.
Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I love discovering new countries, whether alone or with my family and friends, and my dream is to visit the United States. I listen to a lot of music, mainly pop and rap, and I play the piano by myself. I also enjoy singing and am part of my school’s choir. Besides English, I have been learning German for over three years. I also love animals, especially my cat.
In my free time, I watch movies, read books, and spend time with my friends. We like to go shopping, walk around town, and play board games. My mother works as an employment advisor, and my father is a research engineer in the fire safety field. We all share a passion for travel.
This trip to the United States represents a unique opportunity for me to meet new people, participate in activities I’ve never tried, discover a new culture, improve my English, and live the American life I’ve always dreamed of.
In France, my school days are quite long, as I start at eight in the morning and finish at four-thirty in the afternoon. I have a short break in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I take several additional subjects, including Latin, German, and Euro-German, which adds two extra hours of German to my schedule. After school, I usually have a snack and then focus on my homework.
During the week, I practice extracurricular activities in my town, such as dance, theater, and cinema, which last between one and two hours. I have a great relationship with my parents, who are always there to listen and help me with my homework. With my family, I enjoy walking, visiting new places, traveling, shopping, laughing, and watching movies and series together.
Although my close family lives in the North of France, I stay in touch with them via phone and messages. During the holidays and weekends, I love spending time with my friends. I have two best friends, Anaïs and Ninon, and we enjoy doing activities together, both inside and outside of school.
This trip means a lot to me and is truly a dream come true, as I’ve always wanted to discover the United States, a country I find so beautiful. Being part of this trip fills me with joy and excitement. I cannot thank you enough for welcoming me into your family – it’s such a huge opportunity. I can’t wait to meet you!
See you soon!
