Dear Host Family, Hi!! Let me start by saying how grateful I am that you’re opening your home to me—it’s not nothing, and I appreciate it so much already. I can’t wait to meet you, get to know you, and experience this adventure together! So, a little about me—my name is Romane, and I’m both super excited and (I won’t lie) a little nervous about spending a year with you! I live in France with my parents and my older brother, who loves teasing me but is actually pretty cool (not that I’d ever admit it to him). As a family, we love watching movies, going on trips, having long conversations at the dinner table, and playing board games (sometimes a little too competitively). At school, I take math, physics, and Contemporary World English. I love science because it helps me understand how things work—even if sometimes it feels like my brain is about to overheat. I try to be serious about school, but I also think laughing with friends is just as important. They’d probably describe me as kind, funny, and a good listener, which makes sense because I love hearing about everything—gossip, random thoughts, funny stories, you name it. I’m also pretty determined: once I set my mind on something, I do everything I can to make it happen. Outside of school, I love reading (especially romance books), watching series, and doing hands-on activities like DIY projects or Lego. Music is a big part of my life—I always have something playing, but if you ask me what my music taste is, I have no idea how to describe it. I also love deep conversations about anything and everything—dreams, random fun facts, or just what makes us who we are. So, why did I choose to do this exchange? Because I want to experience something completely new, push myself out of my comfort zone, and (of course) improve my English! But more than that, I’m really curious about life in your country—what school is like, what everyday life looks like, what traditions you have, and, let’s be real, what food I absolutely need to try. I also hope to grow as a person, become more independent, and see the world from a different perspective. One of my best qualities is that I really pay attention to people. I love listening, understanding how others feel, and being there when they need it. I also have a strong sense of justice—unfair situations really affect me, even if I don’t always speak up about them. It’s something that sticks with me and makes me want to spread kindness in small ways. What can I bring to your family? Hopefully, lots of laughs, good conversations, and a little bit of French culture! If you ever want to learn how to make crêpes, I’d love to share my (questionable) cooking skills. I’d also love to be part of daily life, whether it’s helping around the house, trying new activities, or just spending time together. I love movie nights, family dinners, and discovering new hobbies, so I’m excited to see what we’ll do together! At school, I’m looking forward to meeting new people, joining clubs or activities, and just making the most of this experience. Whether it’s sports, arts, or school events, I’m excited to get involved. I’d also love to share my culture with my classmates and learn as much as I can from them. I can’t wait to meet you, learn from you, and create some amazing memories together! See you soon! Romane
