's Letter

Dear host family, Thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family. My name is Giulia, I’m 16 and I’m from Brazil. I believe this exchange year will be really important to me. Improving my English will open a lot of opportunities for me. I am also excited to learn more about the USA culture, meet new people and create amazing memories! I love reading fantasy books and watching movies or series. I speak Portuguese, English and I also learned German for six years in school. I am very curious and I love to learn new things, visiting places, and meet new people. My family is formed by athletes, so I grew up practicing different sports, such as gymnastics and ballet. But I loved swimming, and I competed for 5 years. Though I stopped competing I like to play volleyball, soccer and horse riding. Me and my family love listening to rock music, but I enjoy every type of music. I live with my father, my mother and my brother that is in college. My grandparents live close and we always visit them. My cousins are younger than me, and I love spending time with them. I always wanted to have young brothers or sisters, so I would love to have host siblings! Unfortunately we don't have pets. I always insist to my parents to have a dog or a cat. My family and I are very close and we always travel together when we can. The thing I will miss the most from Brazil is the food. My favorite foods are 'feijoada', 'pão de queijo' and 'brigadeiro', that is really easy to do and delicious! I could bring some traditional foods for you to try. Brazil is a very rich country in terms of culture. Our cinema is amazing, and we have amazing athletes, mainly in soccer, where we stand out. We also have popular festivals like 'Carnaval' in February and 'Festa Junina' in June. And of course the music. Funk and samba are the most popular genres, and I could show you these and more traditional Brazilian music. I am beyond excited to be part of your family! Best regards, Giulia
