Dear Host Family, My name is Victor, I am from France, and I live in a small mountain town in the Alps. Coming from a large family, I grew up in a blended family, which has helped me develop a great ability to adapt. I have three younger brothers, including one by marriage. I want to go to the United States for several reasons: first, to meet new people, become more independent, discover a new culture, and improve my English. Currently, I am in boarding school, which has already helped me become more autonomous since I see my parents less often. As my high school is far from home, I have also been welcomed once or twice a week this year by the family of my childhood friend, who also has two younger brothers. Thanks to this experience, I discovered another way of life and integrated into their daily routine. Today, I consider them my second family and care for them deeply. This immersion has enriched me a lot and made me want to renew the experience. I know how much a host family can bring on a personal level, and I would love to experience this in the United States. At home, I actively participate in household chores: I set the table, help my mother carry groceries, and take care of my 12-month-old little brother. I also enjoy spending time with my parents discussing my day, and I particularly appreciate moments in nature. Whether chopping wood, walking by the lake with my dog and family, or simply enjoying the landscape, nature plays an important role in my daily life. Sports are a real passion for me. I love engaging in outdoor activities, alone or with friends, as they help me relax and stay in shape. I would love to discover the iconic sports of the United States, such as baseball and American football, attend games with the unique atmosphere of major events, but also try these sports myself. Being part of a team and investing in a collective sport particularly motivates me, as it represents an excellent way to share and create friendships. Beyond sports, I am curious to discover other aspects of American life. I am eager to try American McDonald's, which seems different from the one in France, as well as enjoy a real American breakfast, with pancakes, bacon, and all the essentials of a traditional breakfast. I would also love to experience typical family celebrations, such as Thanksgiving. What also intrigues me is the vastness of the United States: the immense supermarkets, highways, and cities fascinate me, and I can't wait to see all this with my own eyes. Music also plays an important role in my life. I listen to a lot of American rap, a genre I particularly enjoy for its rhythms and lyrics. Music allows me to relax, escape, and also learn more about different cultures. I love learning and deepening my knowledge in everything I undertake, whether through music, encounters, sports, or studies. This experience in the United States represents a unique opportunity for me to grow, travel, and learn.
