Hello Dear Host Family, My name is Hannes and I am very excited to soon be a part of your family! I am really looking forward to my exchange year in the USA and can’t wait to get to know you, experience your daily life, and immerse myself in a new culture. I would like to introduce myself briefly: My name is Hannes and I come from Germany. I live with my family – my mother Justyna, my father Heiko, and my older brother Karl, who is three years older than me and is already studying computer science at the University. My parents run a service company called 2ho, where they take care of printing systems for other companies such as Airbus and Canon. I would describe myself as an open-minded, friendly, and curious person. I enjoy meeting new people and love to laugh. I have many friends at school and also like to spend time with them in my free time. We often go into the city, go shopping, or watch movies at the cinema. My best friend’s name is Lasse, and I also perform with him in our theater group. My friends are very important to me. Why I would like to go to the USA My main reason for wanting to go to the USA is that I have always heard a lot about it, and I would love to experience it for myself. I want to experience the “American Way of Life” up close. I look forward to getting to know your everyday life, participating in your traditions, and becoming part of the family. At the same time, I hope to share a little bit of my culture with you as well. My Hobbies and Interests I have two main hobbies: theater and climbing. Theater has been a hobby of mine for about five years, and I have played many different roles – from fairy tale characters to stories set in World War II to Christmas plays. Acting gives me the chance to step into different characters and express my creative side. I love being on stage, and through acting, I have learned to be more confident and feel comfortable in different situations. My second big passion is climbing, both with ropes and bouldering. I have been doing it for about three years now. I find it exciting to try out new climbing routes and challenge my own limits. Climbing is a bit like solving a puzzle – you have to find the best way to the top, which makes it particularly interesting. Aside from that, I have other interests as well. I enjoy reading books or manga and watching anime (such as One Piece, Frieren, and Mushoku Tensei). I also like drawing and sometimes even skateboarding. I love watching movies, and some of my favorites are The Pursuit of Happiness, Dead Poets Society, and The Truman Show. Like many teenagers, I also enjoy playing video games on my PC! Other Things I Like I also love skiing, even though I don’t get the chance to do it very often in Germany. Swimming is another activity I enjoy, especially in the ocean. I am always open to trying new hobbies and am excited to discover different sports and activities while in the USA. Besides that, I love sleeping and eating (like everyone does!), and I am very good at both. I pretty much eat everything except spicy food. My favorite meals are sushi and pancakes. My Future For my future, I would like to be my own boss because I feel like working as an employee wouldn’t be very fun. Although I can’t say for sure, since I have never been an employee, so I don’t really know what it’s like. At this point, I don’t know exactly what I want to do yet. I’m not sure what else to write, so I will leave it at that. But I am really looking forward to meeting you as my host family and having an unforgettable time in the USA!
