's Letter

Hi future host family. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to live with you. I am very excited and looking forward to meet you. My name is Olivia. I live in a big village in Central Germany near a bigger city, together with my family. I live in a house with my older brother Marcel and our parents Katja and Martin. My brother is a heating engineer and he is a volunteer firefighter at our local fire department. My parents are working in an insurance company. My dad as an IT administrator and my mom as an office employee. My mom came to germany many years ago and was born in Poland, that’s why I almost speak polish fluently. I attend the 9th grade of a comprehensive school and my favorite subjects are sport, german language, and videography. My day starts at 6 a.m. First I get ready for school. After getting ready, my bus comes at 7.15 a.m. and I drive 15 minutes to the next city, where my school is located. My first lesson begins at 7.45 a.m. and I usually have my last one at 1.00 p.m. or 3.15 p.m. After school I drive home and take a break. I eat something for lunch and relax for about one hour. After relaxing I mostly do sports. My training doesn’t start every day at the same time so I use every free minute before or after, to spend time with my friends and family together or do school tasks. I go to bed between 10 and 12 p.m. Since school and training take up a lot of time, I don’t spend much time at home. But when I do, I enjoy spending time with my family or try to help my parents around the house. I help load and unload the dishwasher, take out the trash or do the laundry. My responsibility is to keep my room clean. I do gymnastics for 10 years, 2-3 times a week. For 3 years I train my own group and teach girls from 5-10. I teach them how to do a cartwheel or a handstand, but we also train the flexibility. Since 2024 I am the assistant youth leader at my gymnastics club. I also play tennis for 2,5 years in a tennis club, but just 1-2 times a week. In summer we often have tennis matches against other clubs. Like the most other girls at my age I like to drive to the next big town and go shopping with my friends or just sitting in a cafe and talk about fashion and make up. But I not only have typically girlish interests. I also really enjoy going to the soccer stadium and support the team from my city. Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed about the American life, especially school life in high school. I would love to get to know the American school system and compare it to the German one. I would be very thankful to be part of you’re family and make new experiences. I am very excited to live in a new country, going to school there, learning a new language perfectly and meet new people. It was my dream since a long long time and it definitely would change my life. Thank you for your time. Warm regards Olivia
