's Letter

Dear host family, It makes me really happy that someone is reading this letter at this moment thousands of kilometers away from where I live and it is a great pleasure that you want to meet me, so first of all I would like to introduce myself so that you can get to know me before I can be there. My name is Ángel and I am a boy who lives in the northwest of Spain. I am currently studying 10th grade and I am so excited to live such a great experience with an American family and to be able to study there 11th grade learning with other people and make a total immersion in English, a language that I love. Regarding my personality I am polite, sympathetic, curious for learning new things, friendly and always willing to help my family and friends. Besides, I play on a soccer team where I am the captain, and I also go every weekend to the stadium to watch my city's team, play their games. In relation to my family, I live with my parents and my sister. I am the youngest sibling and I have a very good relationship with all the members of my family. We get along very well and share hobbies such as watching movies and series, music and playing board games. In addition, we usually spend a lot of time together because in my family we love sports so much that in the summer we often go to a sports center to practice sports like soccer, tennis, paddle tennis, etc. However, our favorite hobby is definitely traveling. We like to visit big cities and that is whysince we were very young we have always traveled to different European countries. This has allowed us to get to know cities, art, culture and practice languages because my sister and I have studied English and French since we were little and for the last few years we have also studied German for a little time. On the other hand, my hobbies include meeting my friends and spending time with my relatives, because I have cousins and I love spending time and playing with them. I also like going to the beach, listening to music, visiting museums, reading and technology. Another hobby that I share with both my friends and my family is spending time in cultural activities such as museums or exhibitions because we find them very interesting. Related to my group of friends, we get along very well and we have known each other since we were very young, so we are always willing to help each other and we have a great time together. Regarding my future, I want to go to university although I still don't know which university major to choose. What I do know is that it will be related to teaching because I really like being with kids. As for my usual day, I get up early to go to school because classes start at 8.00h so every morning I meet my friends who live nearby and we go to school together. We spend the whole day at the high school learning and studying and then we go home for lunch. In the afternoons I don't have classes in high school, so I spend my time doing my homework, studying, attending language classes at an academy and going to soccer training. However, I consider the weekends "my perfect days" because that is whecan go on day trips with my family, spend more time with my loved ones and play my soccer game. As I said at the beginning of this letter, I am very excited about this experience that I am going to live and I am looking forward to spending a year in the USA because it is a unique experience: to live a school year in another school, in another language, with another culture, meet new friends and all this helped by a family like you with whom I can share my day to day and also teach them my culture, customs and even a little bit of my language. Another reason why I’m so looking forward to this experience is that my sister already spent an academic year in the USA when she was a junior, and that experience went really well for her. Now, she is a freshman in university. Finally, I would like to end by thanking you for your generous hospitality that I am sure will make this a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to meet you and live this experience together. Best regards, Angel
