Dear Host Family,
First of all, I want to thank you for the opportunity to be part of your family for a year in the USA. Before that, I’d like to introduce myself.
My name is Aldara, and I live with my parents and my younger brother in a town in the northwest of Spain. A few years ago, my parents introduced me to the idea of spending an academic year in the USA. At first, I was a little nervous, but now I am really looking forward to it. I am currently in 10th grade. My friends describe me as funny, fun, and outgoing. My favorite subjects are science-related, such as chemistry and biology. I am a studious, polite, and responsible person, and I am also very organized. I do well in most subjects.
Since I was eight years old, I’ve played soccer on a team. I train twice a week and we have a game every weekend, and I would love to continue playing soccer in the USA too. In general, I enjoy all sports and am open to trying new ones. I also attend a music school where I’ve been playing the violin four days a week for the past seven years. Music is a very important part of my life, and I would love to continue playing the violin during my exchange year. Additionally, I take tambourine classes once a week, as it is a traditional instrument from Galicia, the region where I live. I’ve always been surrounded by instruments, and I love music in general, not just classical music.
My parents are both engineers. My mother works as a technology teacher, and my father owns a telecommunications consulting company. My brother is 13 years old. We have a very good relationship and are very close. We do many activities together, and almost every weekend we visit my paternal grandparents, as they live nearby. Once a month, we visit my other grandparents who live farther away. I would love to do similar activities with you.
Every year, I travel around Europe. I love seeing new places and experiencing different cultures. In my free time, I enjoy meeting up with my friends in my town or sometimes going to the city to shop or see a movie. My friends are very important to me; we are together all the time at school and often on weekends too.
I am really looking forward to going to your country, getting to know a new culture, making great friends, and learning a lot from you. I would love to be part of your family and participate in household tasks and activities as a member of the family. I am sure we will create many wonderful memories over the next year. I can’t wait to meet you and see you soon.
Thank you very much for reading this letter and for considering me.
Warm regards,
Aldara
