's Letter

Dear Host Family, Thank you so much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and accepting me to live with your family. I am a boy living in Korea, and I am currently a first-year high school student. I am someone who enjoys exploring new things and taking on challenges. My aunt lives in Spain, which has given me many opportunities to travel to Spain and other European countries. However, I have never been to the United States. To me, the United States seems like a free, reasonable, and knowledge-rich country. After learning about this exchange student program, I became eager to experience American culture and life firsthand. I enjoy science, photography, and sports. (When I was younger, I practiced kendo for six years and swimming for four years.) I like almost every sport. I also love cats and dogs. (I currently have two cats at home.) I am passionate about trying new foods and challenging myself with new experiences. I enjoy eating so much that I think I’ve gained a little weight recently. While I enjoy all areas of science, I am especially fond of astronomy these days. Since childhood, I have learned many things about space through my parents. I find topics like the infinity of the universe and the process of its creation particularly fascinating. For this reason, I would love to join an astronomy club if there is one when I go to the United States. My father works as a researcher at a company that manufactures inorganic materials, and he enjoys cycling. My mother is a homemaker who loves cooking and frequently travels because she enjoys it. I have a younger sibling who is one year younger than me, and we are as close as friends. My sibling adores cats. Among Korean cultural elements, I believe that food is the most significant. Representative dishes of Korea include kimchi, kimbap, and bibimbap. I know how to make kimbap, so I would like to prepare it for my host family. I could also introduce them to other traditional Korean dishes. After reading about the lives of other students participating in this exchange program on the Ayusa website, I felt inspired to go to the United States, learn about its diverse culture, and improve my English. I believe that living with you in the United States would allow me to create wonderful memories, share each other’s cultures, and learn together. I hope to become part of your family. Warm Regards, Signature Taesoo
