Dear future host family, first of all, thank you, because without you, I couldn’t make my dream come true. I think it’s very brave of you to host a teenager you don’t know nothing about in your house for almost a year. I’m Mara, many people describes me as a cheerful person. I laugh about everything, but I am also very understanding and empathetic. When I gain confidence, I am quite affectionate. I am very responsible and hardworking too. I study almost every days, and I get good grades, actually, last year my school gave me a diploma for academic excellence and another one for winning a spelling bee in my class. When I was little, I used to watch American films, and I fell in love with how American people celebrates important days, their culture, traditions and what life is like in general there. So I just promised to myself that one day I’ll be there, living the American dream I always wanted. What I expected from this year, is to try a lot of different things such as go to football games on Fridays or see how important dates like Thanksgiving or The Super Bowl are celebrated in America. I would like it very much to be a cheerleader, since I was very little I was fascinated watching them on TV wishing to become one of them. If I have the opportunity, I also would like to try volleyball, it has always caught my attention. I want to discover more about me and challenge myself, although I know it won't always be easy. Most of all, I want to fit in with a family, make a lot of memories, and make USA my second home. In my free time I like cooking, especially baking. When I’m sad or just bored, I go to the kitchen to make cookies, or a cake, or whatever I feel like. And I don’t know how, but it always makes me feel better. I love reading too, I am used to read every night, because normally I study in the afternoons, but I love reading a book and feeling part of it, I love being able to live a lot of different lives, putting myself in the shoes of thousands of characters. I enjoy spending time listening to music, usually in English. I really really love Olivia Rodrigo, but I also like Gracie Abrams, Adele, Dean Lewis, Mark Ambor, Noah Kahan and Benson Boone. I am actually going to go to the mad cool festival in July with my friends. Four years ago, I decided to started doing horse riding, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I like animals in general, but I really love horses. I love spending time with them, on or off the track. From my point of view, it’s very beautiful that connection that is created between an animal and a person to understand each other without speaking. Even though it sometimes could be a dangerous sport, it is worth every fall. In my family there are four of us. My mother name is Isabel, she always listens to me. She is a teacher for community services, and my father, Daniel, is a telecommunications engineer, he is a really funny person. They always take care of me and advises me the best that they can. I also have a little sister, her name is Vera and she is 9 years old, she is very affectionate. And lastly, my little dog, Kira. She is a year older than me, so she has always been with me and I love her. I love spending time with them. I enjoy shopping days with my mother, comb my sister's hair, go for a walk with Kira or cooking with my father. I love having movie nights on Fridays or go out to dinner. We love travel together. We have a house in the beach and we go every holidays, either in winter or summer. But despite of this, every summer we go to another country, and we have been in several countries. I have a group of closest friends, we are a mixted group made up of 14 people. I love spending time with them. Every Friday, we hang out together and go to a shopping mall or to the cinema or maybe to a house and dinner together, but we always have fun. There isn't a single day that we aren't laughing all the time. I know I have them for everything, and they have me too. Each one have something special which makes that we have a very good environment full of trust. I also have sleepovers and girls days or activities with the girls of our friends group.
