Alice

's Letter

Dear host family, My name is Alice. I live in a small town in the South of France with my parents and my big brother. My mom's name is Camille and my dad's is Florent. I have only one big brother, his name is Robin. I have one dog, an Australian shepherd, Opale. She's so cute! I love spending time with my family, sharing meals, board games, activities, movies and even having a laugh. I like telling them about my day in the evening, for example. Family is very important to me. I'm also close to my grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins and we like to gather for special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, or birthdays. I live near my high school, so I walk there every morning. I only go home for lunch on Tuesdays, otherwise I eat at the canteen with my friends. When I get home from school, I often have dance practice, which is why I do most of my homework during day and at weekends. My favorite subjects are English and German classes because we learn a lot about the cultures and the languages. My passion is dancing, I mainly do boogie in competition, but I also do hip hop, ragga and contemporary. I'm going to my dance practices four times a week and I have competitions twice a month during the first part of the year. I love all styles of dance and I love discovering new ones. In my free time, I love to read novels. My favorite type of novels is romantic novels. For example, I liked "The selection" whose author is Kiera Cass. I love series and movies too, for example "Vampire Diaries", "Outer banks", "Anne with an E",... I also cook and bake and like to try out new recipes. I also enjoy hanging out in Lyon, shopping with family and friends. I love hiking too, during my holidays in mountains or close to the sea. I'm always determined and persevering. I'm very open-minded, serious, I'm really a trustworthy person. I am natural, simple, and always smiling. I chose to do this exchange year because my aim is really to discover many things and change my life for a year. I didn't want to do it by halves. I'd like to discover new cultures, new people, a new family, a different school system and lots of other things. I think I'll really grow from it. I chose the United States for this exchange year because I couldn't see myself as an exchange student in any other country than this one, I have always dreamed of its culture, its language, its high schools, its traditions... In my opinion, the United States is a beautiful and an incredible country with its diverse landscapes and its history. I hope to introduce you to French culture, especially my favorite French recipes, I will cook with you Trianon, Canelés,.... or share French music with you. I would really like to be part of your family, discovering the American life through this experience, participating in all the tasks, having fun with you. I will bring you my happy personality and my desire to learn. In my high school I will be motivated in all my classes and activities. I will also bring you a link with Europe, with France. I hope this letter has enabled you to learn more about me and made you want to welcome me to spend an incredible year by your side. Thank you so much for welcoming me and for your hospitality! Alice
