Dear future host Family,
First of all I would like to say a huge thank you for giving me the opportunity to live with you for a whole year and to become a part of your family and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
My name is Tia. I’m a German teenage girl and I live in a small village. My hobbies are playing tennis and volleyball in a team. I like to try new things and explore new countries. I want to learn about the culture and lifestyle in America and share in your life.
Currently I attend 10th grade. For me it’s fun to go to school and I like it. There I have my friends and we always have fun during the school day. My favorite subjects are PE, Spanish, Art and sometimes English.
When I have the chance to visit a Highschool I would like to try out new subjects and sports which we don’t have at our school. For me it would be so interesting to visit maybe the class of photography and dance. Also, I would like to do cheerleading.
My friends are an important part in my life. For me it’s very important that I have one or two close friends who are able to talk to me when I have problems or something which I can’t handle alone. When we don’t talk about problems or issues, we often meet at each other’s houses to have a sleepover and watch movies. Although we visit the city together and go shopping all day and after this we go to a restaurant to get a little snack or something. Furthermore, we also do many activities in a bigger friendgroup like ride bikes, play games, visit a sea or lake nearby and many other activities. Most of the time we see each other at school. I would say that the relationship between my friends and me is extremely close and harmonious. I love all my friends because they can help you in every situation, they bring my life together and make it better and also, they make it shine.
I am a very lively and joyful person with many interests in her life. I like playing tennis and volleyball in a team. To me it is so much fun and when we win a game we can share our feelings and our pride. At home I love to play games with my family and I really enjoy cooking and baking for myself and my friends/family. For me it would be naturally to cook or bake for you many new recipes like German food and specialties. I like to explore new countries. My family and I have been to many countries and every time we went to a new town it’s so fascinating. You can see new cultures, new food and it’s like there is a different kind of lifestyle. I am a very loving person in reference of pets and younger kids. I’m interested in new cultures and traditions and I hope my future host family can give me an insight in their traditions and culture. When I say that I like to clean maybe you are surprised but for me it’s important that for example my bedroom is clean und not untidy.
In my family there are living my mom Jessica, my dad Timo and my younger sister Eva. Unfortunately, we don’t have any pets at home but I would like to have a dog. That is why I would be so happy when my host family has a dog because since my childhood, I dream about having a dog. But it wouldn’t be a big problem when the host family doesn’t have one. Me and my family spend a lot of time together but most of the time when me and my sister have holidays because then we are together on vacation. My dad works in a travel company and my mom is working in the fire protection business. My tasks at home are cleaning upstairs the bathroom and the bedrooms and sometimes I do the dishes. My mom and my dad are two very lovely people and they try to be the best for me and my sister.
But now more about me and my person. My friends see me as a happy, lovely, helpful and kind person. When it comes to meeting new people, I always feel like I’m shy. I know that will be a big part when I come to the US because everything is completely new but I also know that I can overcome the shyness. I take a lot to heart and become emotional no matter what it’s about. With my friends I’m empathetic and open minded.
When I’m on my exchange year I hope to make new experiences and learn many new things about the US and of course about myself. When I’m in your family I hope to feel as a family member because maybe for you it’s also exciting to get an exchange student.
I hope to make some new friends and learn about our culture. Furthermore, maybe we will do activities together like shopping or something like ride the bike or go on a walk. My dream to be in the US for one year is because I really want to live the Highschool dream. Also, I hope to grow beyond myself and go through life more openly. One of my favorite sayings is sometimes you just gonna have to take the chance, otherwise you’re just gonna miss out and pass on some of the greatest opportunities that life has in store for you.
I hope I could give you a little insight into my life and my person and I’m already excited and happy to finally get to know you! Thank you!
Yours faithfully
Tia
