's Letter

Dear family My name is Amelia, and I’m from Spain. There are three people in my family: my mother, her boyfriend, and me. I don’t have a father because my mom is a single mom, and I think it’s important for you to know that. Lately, we’ve been very happy together and have a lot of trust. I like playing padel, and I’m good at it, but when I’m there, I would like to try another sport. I’m not very sporty, but I think it’s always good to try new things. As for music, I like reggaeton, but I also enjoy pop music in English, like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber, especially when I was younger. My favorite singer is Adele, and I love her music! I can listen to it for hours. I’m really excited to spend Christmas there and especially to try Thanksgiving food. I would also love to try some typical American foods, like Crumble Cookies, Taco Bell, Chipotle, and Raising Cane’s. I’m looking forward to trying these traditional dishes! I can’t wait to meet my host family, and I want to thank you for hosting me for a year. I’m excited to learn new things, and I’ll be happy to help with chores at home. I’m also curious to see what school is like there and, of course, the famous "yellow buses." I would love to be a cheerleader! My hobbies are doing makeup and looking at clothes because I love fashion. I’m also interested in politics. In my country, a traditional dish is tortilla de patatas (potato omelette) and paella, and they are my favorite dishes! I would love to cook them for you. In my town, we have a very famous festival called "Las Fallas," which is celebrated in March. During the celebration, huge figures made of cardboard, wood, and other materials, called "fallas," are built. At the end, they are burned in a big bonfire. Besides the fallas, the celebration includes fireworks, parades, music, and a lot of typical food. There is a traditional outfit worn during the Fallas, which is very beautiful and has a lot of history. It is one of the most famous celebrations in Spain. I consider myself a fun and sociable person, and I know being sociable will help me meet new people there. I’m sure this will be an important change, but I’m ready to adapt and enjoy the experience as much as I can. I’m super excited to meet you all and live this experience to the fullest. If you need anything from me, like helping with chores at home, I’ll be happy to do it! With lots of love, Amelia
