Bertran
's Letter
Hello!
My name is Bertran, and I am an early teenager. If you are reading this, it’s probably because you’re considering hosting a student in your home. If that’s the case, let me take a moment to introduce myself and share a few things about who I am and what makes me unique.
I like to think of myself as a friendly and outgoing person who enjoys meeting new people and creating connections. Friends and family often tell me I have a great sense of humor and a natural talent for making people feel at ease. I love engaging in conversations, learning about others, and building meaningful relationships. When it comes to hobbies, I’m definitely a sporty person! Staying active is one of my biggest passions. I particularly enjoy playing basketball and soccer, two sports that are not only fun but also teach valuable lessons about teamwork and perseverance. I’m always eager to try new things, and one of my current goals is to learn how to play American football. I believe that sports are an excellent way to stay healthy, develop social skills, and, most importantly, have fun!
My family is incredibly important to me, and I’d love to tell you a little about them. We are a close-knit family of five who share many wonderful moments together. My dad, Sergio, is 53 years old and a remarkable role model. He is kind, supportive, and always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. We share love for sports, and many of our best memories have been made during outdoor activities or cheering for our favorite teams. My mom, Marta, is 50 years old and the heart of our family. She is warm, loving, and always looking out for us, even though she can get a little nervous at times. Her thoughtfulness and dedication to our family inspire me every day.
I have two sisters who are both amazing in their own ways. My older sister, Flavia, is 16 years old. She is incredibly talented, both in the arts and in sports, and I admire her creativity and dedication. My younger sister, Camila, is 12 years old and full of energy. She’s playful and always ready to join in on an adventure or a family activity.
The three of us love animals and have been trying to convince our parents to get a pet. Unfortunately, my mom isn’t too fond of the idea, so we don’t have one yet—but we haven’t given up hope! Despite this, we find plenty of ways to have fun as a family. We enjoy hiking in the nearby mountains, going for runs together, and even participating in small theater performances at home.
I currently attend 9th grade at the school. My school is beautifully situated near the forest and a natural park, in a peaceful neighborhood. One of the things I love most about my school is its unique location surrounded by nature. My weekdays are busy and full of variety. My mornings usually start early, depending on the day. I wake up around 7:45 AM after waking up, I eat breakfast and get ready for the day. Then, I head to the bus stop, where I usually meet up with friends before heading to school together. My mornings are filled with classes like math, science, and literature, where I focus on building knowledge and skills. Lunchtime is one of my favorite parts of the day because it’s a chance to relax, talk with friends, and play games in the schoolyard. After school, my routine varies. Sometimes I head straight to sports practice, basketball and swimming. Other times, I return home to complete my homework and spend time with my family. In the evenings, we have dinner together and we usually talk abouts the day.
On my weekend I usually study, play basketball matches, play video games or go out with my friends. Some weekends I also go on family trips like walking on the mountain or running. In the winter I act in a traditional play with my family
I want to go to America because I want to travel across the world learning new traditions, new sports, new friends and try typical food from that country.
I also want to see how the people live there and what they do. My expectations are making friends at school, trying typical sports from there and having a great time while I am far away from home. I also want to improve my English because thanks to that I could interact with a lot of people and it will help my life like at the time to get a job.
I think I can get good grades and learn a lot. I also want to make good friends and fit in the family as a new brother and in conclusion, live an amazing experience.
Thanks for reading my letter, and I hope to see you soon!
