Hi, my name is Fritz, and I’m in 11th grade at a high school in Germany. I live with my parents and my 13-year-old sister in a suburb of a bigger city here.
I’m really into sports, especially basketball and soccer. I used to play soccer until I was 13 and was actually pretty good, but during Corona, I switched to basketball because I enjoyed it even more and it helped me to focus better on myself. Since then, I worked really hard to improve and even made it into the U16 Bundesliga, which is the highest league for my age in Germany. I played two seasons there, averaging 9 points and 4 assists per game. Last season, I played in the U18 league. It was tough at first, but I managed to score at least 12 points per game, with some games where I even scored over 20 points.
Now, I’m also playing for a men’s team in the 5th league in Germany, and sometimes I get to train with the 1st team in the 4th league. I’m only 5’10”, so I always had to work harder than others, but I enjoy being the underdog and proving myself as a point guard. I’m also the captain of my team, and I love it because we all try our best to improve. I also see myself as kind of a coach for my teammates because I like to cheer them up and help them stay motivated.
Outside of basketball, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I have a close group of friends, especially my best friend Nuri, who I’ve known since I was two years old. We live right next to each other, so we meet up regularly. I also enjoy hanging out with my family, playing games, going on trips, or just spending time together in the living room. I really like exploring new places, whether it’s in the city or traveling to other areas.
My schedule is pretty full because of school, basketball practice, and my mini-job. I work as a bike courier for a pharmacy, delivering medicine to elderly people. I like this job because it’s active and I can help others at the same time.
Since my confirmation, my faith has become more important to me. It’s not so much about going to church every Sunday but about living with faith and letting it guide my decisions.
I have a lot of interests that make my life exciting and balanced. I love listening to rap music and my favorite foods are pizza and pasta. Spending time with my whole family especially two little cousins who live nearby is also something I really enjoy. I like being around younger kids because they’re so curious, and I love teaching them new things. That’s also why I did my social internship at an elementary school, where I got the chance to work with kids.
When it comes to solving problems, I think it’s really important to stay calm and talk openly to find solutions together. That’s something I learned from my family, and it helps me get along with my little sister too. I believe I could adjust well to living with your family and would love to be treated as a real part of it. I’m open to spending time together, whether it’s going to church, watching sports, or just hanging out at home. I’m not picky with food and really value kindness and respect in a household. I’m also open to feedback because I think it helps me grow.
I’m super excited about the opportunity to come to the U.S. and experience your culture. Living with a host family sounds amazing, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing as a person while staying with you.
Thank you for considering me, and I hope to hear from you soon!
