Dear Host Family, My name is Mateo, and I am a 16-year-old student from Torrejón de Ardoz, a calm and friendly city near Madrid, Spain. First of all, I want to thank you for considering me as a part of your family. I am very excited about the possibility of experiencing life in the United States and being part of your culture. I live with my family, who are very supportive and kind. My parents are hardworking and always encourage me to follow my dreams. I also have a younger brother, who is 12 years old, and he is very funny and creative. We have a close relationship, and I will miss them a lot, but I am looking forward to building a connection with you. At school, I enjoy my classes, especially Physical Education because I love staying active. A typical day for me starts early in the morning. I go to school, attend my lessons, and spend time with my friends during breaks. After school, I usually eat lunch and focus on my homework. Later, I study and go to the gym, which is one of my favorite activities. Staying fit and healthy is important to me, and I find the gym helps me relax and stay disciplined. In my free time, I enjoy playing videogames and going to the gym. Gaming is a way for me to connect with my friends, and we often play together online. At the gym, I like to challenge myself and improve my strength and endurance. It’s a hobby that keeps me motivated and gives me a sense of accomplishment. I would describe myself as an ambitious and friendly person. I love meeting new people and learning from them. I am always willing to work hard to achieve my goals, even if I sometimes complain a little along the way. One thing I know I need to improve is my patience, and I hope this experience will help me grow in that area. Torrejón de Ardoz, my hometown, is a peaceful city with a lot to offer. It’s a great place to live because you can find almost everything you need here. Plus, it is very close to Madrid, which is an exciting and vibrant city. In my free time, I enjoy going out, playing games, and working on my clothing brand, which is a project I’m very passionate about. During weekends and vacations, I like to stay active. I go out with friends, train at the gym, and work on designing and promoting my clothing brand. This is something I take seriously, and I hope to grow it even more in the future. Studying in the United States has always been a dream of mine. I would love to experience a new culture, meet new people, and see how life is on the other side of the world. My expectations are to make good friends and immerse myself in your culture. I believe I can contribute by being ambitious and putting effort into everything I do. I am eager to share my perspective and learn from yours as well. As an exchange student, I hope to grow as a person and achieve my goals. I want to expand my clothing brand, as I believe people in the U.S. have a more open-minded approach to fashion. When I return home, I plan to use what I’ve learned to pursue the career I want and continue developing my brand, I will also pursue my dream of living in a city in the United States.
