's Letter
Dear host family,
My name is Victoria and I live in a coastal area in the northwest of Spain. I am lucky enough to live in a house next to the beach, so in summer I can easily go swimming and sunbathing while enjoying the pleasant temperature.
I live with my parents and my sister, who has always been a very important person to me, as it is like having a friend at home. I know it is a simple thing, but spending time with family is something that really makes me happy. We always try to do activities together, such as hiking, skiing, watching movies on Friday nights, playing board games...
I also meet up with my friends almost every weekend, even though we all go to the same school. We go bowling, to the movies or just to have dinner.
As for my hobbies and things I like, I am constantly trying new activities, as I like to experience new things. But some of my all-time favorite activities are reading a good book, painting, watching movies, listening to music, doing crafts, learning about topics that interest me… Also, playing sports cheers me up, whatever it is. Wanting to move my body every day isn’t easy, but it has taught me to have discipline and to be more consistent, even if I feel tired.
Some things about me is that I don’t give up easily. When I feel down, motivating myself and having the right mindset helps me keep going. A positive attitude towards life and cheering others up when they are down are some of the things I stand for.
I realize that I haven’t learned everything about life, but I hope that my experience as an exchange student in the US will help me become a better person. Getting to know other cultures and participating in activities that I am not familiar with is something that I believe can teach you a lot and make you gain lifelong lessons, such as respect and not judging others as a first impression. Getting away from the people and things you are used to makes you broaden your mind and start seeing from new perspectives, as well as becoming independent and taking responsibility for your decisions. Meeting new people is something I love, because I believe you can learn a lot from others and their experience.
As for my professional future, I am still wondering what I should do, but I can firmly say that the economic and business world is what interests me the most. Although I hope that studying in the United States will help me improve my learning skills and decide what I want to do specifically in the future.
I am excited to learn about American culture and would love to share with my American family there, the traditions and customs of my country as well.
Also, I will respect the rules of my host family and do what I can to help. Lastly, I thank my host family in advance for making me a part of their lives and opening their home to me.
Best wishes and see you soon!
Victoria
