's Letter
Dear host family:
Thanks for giving me the chance to go to your home the next year.
I´m a Spanish boy in the last year of secondary. My parents have always offered to me going one year to U.S.A, and I think this is a very good opportunity to learn English, mature, and make new friends. I have always been a bit afraid of going abroad for a long time, but a lot of people said to me that it will be an experience that I will never forget and they have recommended it a lot.
My principal passion is soccer, I have played since I was 4, and I would like to practice it in U.S.A., if possible. I don´t imagine a life without soccer, but I am also open to other sports during my stay there. I love skiing too, I have been skiing for many years, and this is an activity that I always enjoy. Generally, I love all sports, when I watch TV, I always search for a sports show or a match.
Another thing that I like is cooking desserts. I love chocolate, and when I go to a restaurant with my family, I always order a chocolate dessert. Almost every Sunday, my father and I cook crepes (you call them "pancakes"), the last year we bought a crepe maker, and we love doing them, especially with chocolate or Nutella.
In the summertime, I love going to my family's house in a small village in the mountains, where I spend a few weeks with my grandparents and I have many friends there. I also like to meet my cousins during one week of the summer when we rent a house in some part of Spain or Portugal.
There are four in my family. I live with my father, my mother, and my sister. My father is a professor of botany at the university, I don´t like his job, because I don´t like biology. My mother works in the botanic garden of my city. Sincerely, I prefer her job, because she does more interesting things, like organizing courses, conferences, and coordinating activities with schools. My sister is in her first year of university, she is studying business administration. Two years ago, she went to Ireland for one year. Before going to Ireland, she didn´t want to do it, but after one month there, she didn´t want to go back to Spain, and she recommended me to go abroad. In my family, we have always wanted to have a dog, my sister and I love them, but my parents say that we can´t have it because is a big responsibility, and we don´t have time to take care of it. I really would like it if my family in U.S.A. has a dog or any other animal.
Thanks for reading this letter, I hope you will choose me as a new member of your family!
With my best wishes,
Pablo.
