Dear Host Family,
I hope you’re doing well. My name is Fatima, and I’m incredibly excited to have this amazing opportunity to spend an exchange year in the United States with you. I’d love to tell you a bit more about myself and my daily life so you can get to know me better before I arrive.
I come from France, where I live with my family. We are very close, and I love spending time with them. Together, we enjoy small activities like painting by the river, which lets us enjoy nature and have special moments together. We also often have family movie nights, where we watch films together. These moments mean a lot to me, and I hope to share some of our family traditions with you, while learning about yours as well!
Outside of family activities, I’m passionate about books, movies, and music. I love reading because it allows me to escape and explore new worlds. I also enjoy playing chess; it’s a game that challenges my mind and helps me concentrate. I have a big dream for the future: after my exchange year, I’d love to return to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree at a university like Columbia or Yale, and I’m very motivated to work hard to reach that goal.
One of the main reasons I want to spend this exchange year is to improve my English, and I’m sure that living with an American family and attending an American high school will help me a lot. I’m also very interested in new experiences and adventures! In the U.S., I’d love to try activities I haven’t experienced yet. For example, I’d really love to attend an American football game to experience the energy and excitement around the game, especially since it’s such a popular sport that I’ve never seen live before. I’d also be thrilled to learn a bit more about cheerleading, which isn’t very common in France. Another big wish is to celebrate American holidays like Thanksgiving, which I find fascinating. The idea of preparing a big meal and spending that special time together as a family really excites me.
Aside from that, I enjoy spending time with friends. In France, we often organize pajama parties, picnics, and little outings just to have fun together. I hope to build strong friendships in the U.S. as well and to discover new activities with my host friends. I’m looking forward to studying new subjects and trying clubs and sports that aren’t available at my high school in France.
I’m truly excited to share this adventure with you, to experience American culture in daily life, and to create new memories together. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and for giving me this unique experience. I can’t wait to meet you and begin this wonderful journey with you!
Best regards,
Fatima
