's Letter
Dear host family,
My name is Luka. I would like to do a school exchange after this year to discover a different culture, strengthen my English knowledge and meet new people. I chose the USA because I have always been fascinated by this country, I really would love to live there, learn about the culture and the traditions.
I am helpful, polite, respectful and sociable. At home, I help a lot with the household chores: I set and clear the table, do the dishwasher, wash the dishes, vacuum and clean my bedroom. And I like to discover new things and activities. I find it very enriching to be able to live with other people on a daily basis. Together we can share a lot. As I come from another continent, another country, I can't wait to be able to explain to you and to my future classmates my daily life and the activities I do, which may be a little different from yours.
I have several hobbies like board skating, building Lego, playing chess, collecting "Panini" stickers, spending time with friends, board games, and above all playing soccer. Most of my free time is dedicated to soccer. I play since I was 6 and I am now in an interprovincial club, I have 3 trainings and 1 game per week. I like sport in general and would like to discover other sports that are not well known in my country.
I have a brother of 12. We play video games together and I help him a lot for school. We love to go to the cinema, we get on well together and have the same sense of humor.
At home we often play board games in the evening with our parents, our family is strong and we communicate a lot all together, especially when something goes wrong and someone is not happy. We also love culture in general. On each family outing outside our city we like to visit a monument or museum that represents the city we are visiting.
Here is my daily routine: I take the bus in the morning with my young brother to go to school. The class starts at 8 until 12.30. I spend my lunchtime with friends then I resume class at 13.30 until 16. I go back home by bus, have a snack and do my homeworks. After that, I usually go to soccer training or spend time with my family.
Later I would like to study engineering, once I would return from the school exchange. For now, my concern is the language, I know that the first weeks might be difficult for us to understand each other but I am sure that this would not last as I would have 10 months to improve my English. II'm not starting from scratch and I know we'll find a way to communicate with each other and with all the other people I'll meet. It's all going to be quite comical for the first few days.
Apart from that, I am not afraid at all and am very excited to share this adventure with you.
Together we will create friendship and memories.
I would like to thank you for welcoming a foreigner student in your family, I cannot wait to meet you and take part in this adventure in the best possible way.
Thank you for your attention and wish you a nice day.
Luka
