Dear Host Family,
Thank you so much for participating in the Ayusa-Programm and choosing me as a Host-Kid.
I am a German girl, who just finished her sophomore year in high school. I love my hobbies, gathering new experiences and traveling around the world and visiting America for 9 months.
I am an outgoing, funny, animal-friendly, horse-loving and extroverted person. I love participating in my Hobbies, for example Western Riding, Climbing and Scuba Diving. But also going to flea markets, sewing or crocheting in my free time is a calming activity I like to do. In my School I volunteer as a digital Superheros (digitale Helden). As a team of 10 people we prepare lessons for children in Classes 4–9. We teach them how to behave on the Internet/social media and how to stay safe while surfing on the Internet. We also serve as a person to talk to, if they are victims of Cyber-Mobbing, Cyber-Grooming or other problems you could face on the Internet. I am hoping to be able to participate in other activities that help other children or animals.
Living in America for a short or long time was my childhood dream, that is coming true. Going to high school and getting to know America's culture is a fascinating thought for me. Joining the school activities and meeting new people and a new family is exciting to think about.
I started riding horses when I was about 8–9 years old. I love to look at how much I succeeded. Horse riding is a calming hobby I love to do, because it clears my mind and gives me a safe feeling. I am hoping to carry on with Horse Riding in the USA. I also love to schwimming. I have 10 years of schwimming experience and I always loved doing it, diving under the water and having the silence around me. 1 year ago I started scuba diving and it has been a great experience for me. But also Climbing, walking, going to the gym or meeting with friends are things I love to do. Joining extracurricular activities at my future highschool is a goal I hope to reach, to get the full highschool experience.
My Dad is a Salesman, but does not work actively anymore. He loves to travel with me around the world. Unfortunately, I wasn't in America yet. My mom however is a teacher, who loves her job and is currently continuing her education. She loves to garden and read books in the evenings. I have an 18-year-old sister, who is doing schooling as a stablekeeper. She loves horses, activities with me and trying new foods. My family is very close, especially me and my sister. I hope we will have something similar during my stay in Amerika.
My family and I live in a big 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom-Apartment in a calm Community. My family loves to make "Käsefondu“ on Christmas Eve, its melted cheese cooked with white wine, that you eat with baguette. For the new year we traditionally do “Heißen Stein“. It's a hot stone, where you fry meat and vegetables and bake potatoes, cheese and vegetables underneath.
In the future, I am looking to graduate from high school and then either go into informatics in a programming team leading position, law in a position of an attorney or business administration. I have high goals when it comes to my future, and I always try to achieve the highest I can and try my best.
Warm Regards
Hannah
