Dear Host family,
First of all I would like to thank you all for being willing to participate in this kind of program and give me the opportunity to get to know your country.
I am a Spanish girl who had just finished sophomore year back here in Spain and I am so exhited to become an exchange student the next year. This is because of something I share with my mom since I'm a kid: the passion of traveling and get to know new cultures and traditions. Actually my wish is to travel all around the world with both family and friends. But if I have something sure, is that USA is in the top of the list.
My dad is in charge of an insurance agency and he is so interested in mountain routes. In the other side, my mum is an english teacher on primary schools, she is so creative and even has her own blog about arts and crafts. Of course there is my little brother who is four years younger than me and is always playing basketball and taking care of my dog: Scooby. On our free time we love to spend time together and make plans where we can share our day or just talk.
Besides from them I also have a huge family. But actually the ones I enjoy the most are my granparents, I love them so much and I wouldn't know how to live without them, specially my granny ,who I have a great relationship.
If I have to describe myself I would say that I am rather active, cheerful, sweet,
competitive, sportive, helpful... but a word that most of the people used to describe my is hard-working. My favorite sport is artistic roller-skating, I have been practising it since I'm four years old in all of its modalities. What I loved the most about this sport, is the people that had grown by my side and are now like siblings. I also like skiing with my dad. But during my stay there I would like to try different sports which are not played here like cheerleading or lacrosse. I speak spanish and I look forward to become totally fluent in English, I also speak French. Back in my country I don't have the opportunity to volunteer and is something I'm so interested about because I loved to help people, above all homelessness and old people. This is actually one of the main reasons why I would like to be a doctor when I finish high school.
I love the theater and movies, speacially scary and rom-coms movies, here I don't have much chance to join any plays, but I hope that I could change that there. Not only the theater club, I would like to be part of funny and unconventional clubs or classes. It's just a year so I'm looking forward to make the most of it. Of course I love to hear music, it's an essential part of me, it helps me to focus and relax while I'm studying or just chilling out. My favorite singers are Myke Towers and Olivia Rodrigo. Normally I enjoy to hear them so much with my group of friends- we are four in the group. I'm going to missed them terribily especialy my BFF.
It is said that Spain has a huge cultural and gastronomic variety, which I'm willing to share with you. I'm actually a great cooker so I could cook you some spanish delights like paella, Spanish potato omelette and my speciality: Torrijas, a very famous Spanish dessert. Moreover I would be glad to share with you everything about my country, either history and traditions like: flamenco or chotis dance and festivals like The San Fermines or San isidro. I think we both could learn a lot about the others culture (nothing could make me happier). I actually have a lot of ideas that we could carry out about both cultures.
Well, I also love animals, I have a lovely relantionship with them. It's funny because when I was like four I used to freaked out when I saw a dog but now... I think is on the countrary, I coudn't live without animals and the company and serenity that they bring you when they are by your side. Like with my dog we adopted him when he was 1 month ,and it's the best thing that have ever happened to us. He helped me to overcome my problem towards dogs.
Every time I see pictures about USA or I hear people just talking about it, makes me more determined about why I really want to go. I think it's about time to start a new chapter in my life free of uncertanies and unworries. Tearfuly saying goodbye to my family and friends and leaving my life here behind. But councious that the jouney ahead will be fill with unforgettable memories and moments. I think that an exchange year is like a blank book and I 'm the storyller. Actually, I wouln't know how to be thankful enough If you give me the opportunity to be a part of your family and fullfil my dream. I'm sure we could fill all this pages with memorable stories, people and experiencies that I will always carry on my heart for a lifetime.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to see you soon.
Warm regards
CLAUDIA
