Dear Host Family,
First of all, I would like to say thank you for choosing me and for giving me the opportunity to start this amazing adventure with you. I am really excited about the chance to live with you and your family and to experience life in the USA. I’ve always dreamed of spending a year abroad, and now I am excited to make that dream come true.
I’m a girl from Germany, and I would love to spend a year in the USA during 11th grade to not only experience American culture but also to make new friends and learn what it’s like to live in another country.
I’ve always been fascinated by the typical American high school, sport games, and getting involved in school activities. I want to learn new hobbies, make beautiful memories, and life the American lifestyle I’ve always seen in movies!
My English isn’t perfect yet, but that’s also one of the reasons why I want to go to the USA - to learn English as much as possible.
I would describe myself as an open and friendly person. Although I might be a bit shy at first, once I get to know people,I become more outgoing, fun, and maybe even a little crazy. I love to laugh and make others laugh too.
In my free time, I like to stay active. I regularly go to the gym to keep fit, and I’ve been learning a kind of Hip-Hop dance for five years now, which is something I really enjoy. I often hang out with my friends and we do different activities together, like going to the lake or baking. Another thing I love is singing, whether on my own or in a choir. I also spend quality time with my family playing volleyball or table tennis, which is why I would love to join a volleyball team while I’m in the USA (or a cheerleading team!).
Traveling is another thing I love to do. In the summer and autumn, I usually travel with my parents and friends to places like Greece, Spain, or South Africa. Every winter, we go skiing in Austria, which I’ve been doing since I was three years old. Skiing is something I always look forward to because it brings me so much joy.
At home, I live in an apartment with my parents and my cat. I don’t have any siblings, though I’ve always wanted some. But I love my friends, and my cousin and they feel like siblings to me.
After finishing school, I definitely want to continue traveling and studying. I’m still figuring out my future career plans, but right now I’m thinking about becoming an architect because I love art, design and creativity.
I’m really looking forward to spending my exchange year with you and your family, building a second home in the USA, and creating unforgettable memories together. Thank you once again for giving me this amazing opportunity.
I can’t wait to meet you and start this journey!
Warm regards,
Kim
