Dear future host family.
First of all, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for hosting me for five months and letting me be a part of your family.
My name is Lina and I'm from Germany. I live in a small village with my mother, my father and my sister. We also have two rabbits; they're really cute.
My family is like a basic family. We try to do things together but sometimes in the week we don't see each other so often. This is partly due to work/school but also because we all do different things after work/school. For that we try to do more things together on the weekends, this is also sometimes not so easy, but we try hard. I think breakfast together is the best on the weekends;) I'm also in contact with my other family members (grandparents, uncles...) and we see each other often and spend time together. This is very special for me.
In my freetime, I like to bake. I would like to bake German things for you, and maybe you can show me American things. I also like to read, but I just read Romans. I really love to read about different love stories and how two people become one heart and one soul.
Sometimes I take care of the son of friends from our family. He's really cute. and it's really fun.
My hobbies are swimming, skiing and tennis.
I have every Monday from 6 to 8 DLRG. DLRG is a German-wide swimming rescue service.
In the first hour, I show kids how to swim, not alone but rather with other nice people, including my mom;) That's so lovely because these little children have so much fun during the lesson and they always put a smile on your face.
In the second hour, so from 7 to 8, I have swimming training myself. We learn how to rescue people from the water when they are in trouble.
Every year, I can't not wait to go skiing. i just love the feeling while skiing, you feel kinda free. Almost every year we go on a skiing holiday over New Year's Eve, and if not, we got to a nearby ski arena.
Every Wednesday I have a tennis lesson from 6 to 7. But I play also on other days with my friends. I really enjoy playing tennis, and I would say it's my favourite hobby;)
I play on a team in my hometown club, where we play against other teams in the summer, it's realls fantastic.
So if there is a possibility, I would like to join the tennis club. But I'm also very open to new sports and like to try new things:)
In my freetime I also like to do stuff with my friends. I would say that I'm very shy at first but then I open up very quickly and you can have a lot of fun with me!!
My favorite classes in school are math, sport and Englisch. I love to do sports and math and Englisch are also very great and I really enjoy these subjects. I can speak German and Englisch, and a little bit French.
During my exchange year, i want to learn about the American culture(like Christmas, Thanksgiving or Halloween).I want to see the school system in America, and see what is different or maybe similar to my German school. Furthermore, I would like to visit a Target and go shopping there;) But I also want to improve my Englisch and have a lot of fun and make this to a unforgettable experience!!
Many greetings and hopefully see you soon!
Lina
