BERNARDO

's Letter

Dear Host Family, I would like to start by thanking you for accepting to be a part of the program and allowing and trusting a student from abroad to become a part of your family for a while. When people talk about me, they usually describe me as someone laid back and chill. I definetely wouldn't say I am shy, but I tend to listen more than I speak. I am very humorous - not when I am hungry tough - and a very social person when I am around friends and family. Most of my goals in life revolve around getting to be around people and making their lives better somehow. I adore kids and have a lot of patience with them, therefore being a big host brother would be incredible, just as much as being with a big family with many host-siblings. I have a good relationship with everyone in my school and for this reason I do home gatherings with them whenever possible. We usually cook together, play in the pool and even bring our parents along. My family is extremely diverse. My grandfather on my mother's side is from Portugal, while my grandma is both Italian and native american. I also have some African-American and Spanish background on my father's side of the family, so I am very open minded when it comes to different cultures. My life also revolves around school and playing sports. My number one priority is doing an excellent job at school and achieving my full potential at this essential part of any young person's life, but my routine regarding sports and health also makes me very proud. I am a blue belt at Jiu JItso and have even gotten second place at a championship. I have already practiced boxing, Muay-Thai, Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming and of course, Football. Nevertheless, my favorite one is Jiu Jitsu. When I arrive in the USA, I would hope to be part of the school's sports team, whichever is in season, since I am rather ecletic. Being an active part of the community has always been incredibly important for me and my family, so getting to know local spots would be really nice. Finally, I am looking forward to have a culturally and socially fulfilling experience, while also making this a pleasurable and peaceful experience to my host family, who I can guarantee I am already grateful for. I couldn't be more excited to become part of this huge Ayusa family. Warmest regards, Bernardo.
