Dear Host family, My name is Gabrielle. I live in France close to a large City, where I am surrounded by mountains. I believe myself to be a smiley and happy person, a good listener, funny and polite, adapting easily to different situations. I’ve already had the opportunity to be with a host family in England twice before. Even if it was a short experience, twice for one week, I felt comfortable and easily created links with my hosts. I also think that I am someone who is sensitive, sometimes a bit shy but also I am extremely loyal. I love to bake and cook. I often bake cookies or brownies for my family and my friends. They are so happy when I arrive at school with the pastries’ box. I also like cooking various pasta dishes, creative soups, mixed salads, etc. I would be happy to extend this skill in your home and share my culinary creations. In my free time, I enjoy going to the dance studio, as it feels like home. I am learning street dance and contemporary at the moment. Dance is my happy place. During winter, I enjoy skiing. I spend a lot of time listening to music. My favorite singers are Olivia Rodrigo, The Weeknd, Coldplay and Drake. I also really like French and Latino music, for example Romeo Santos. I love going to concerts and festivals with my friends and my dad. I love spending time at the beach or the swimming pool. I like reading romance books and novels. One of my favorite books is “The Braid” written by Laetitia Colombani. There is a film adaptation, but I preferred the book. I like hanging out with my friends. We enjoy talking, shopping, discovering new places to eat, going to the cinema and summer camps. Some of my favourite movies are: The Hunger Games, The Devil wears Prada and Nottinghill. For many years, I have been passionate about aviation and aeronautics. I’m currently attending remote weekly classes in order to obtain a first level of certification in aeronautics, as my dream is to become a pilot. My other passion is travel. Since I was young, my parents have enabled me to travel the world. It’s due to them and my passion for discovering new countries, that I would like the oportunity to do an exchange year in the USA. I’ve already been to New-York City, San Francisco and many other cities along the West coast of the United States and this makes me want to extend this discovery to other places and to enjoy American lifestyle. I will embrace the placement I am offered and I’m sure I’ll enjoy this experience. During the program, I would like to discover the differences between the French High School style of learning to that of the USA. I’d love to join a recreational team to practice a sport or dance even as a volunteer, as this is something normal for me and will help me feel more at home. I am very close to my own family, spending quality time with you would be extremely important to me as it would be a great way for me to integrate into your way of life. I would enjoy learning your interests, day to day lifestyle and having discussions with you . I'd like to discover the places close to where I'll be living. If possible, I would be more than happy to explore the United-States of America with you, large cities as well as natural landscapes would make me happy. I enjoy watching basketball games on TV and would love the chance to experience a live match. It would be also amazing to discover new sports like baseball or American football. Let’s come back to France so I can tell you more about my family. I live in a house with my parents and our lovely cat called Pito. My older brother has already left home and is studying at business school. My mum works in the beauty product domaine my dad works in the agri business. As a family, we enjoy playing board games, traveling and eating out. I enjoy hiking with my parents, but not as often as they do! Sunrises and sunsets make me very happy.
