Dear future host family, First of all I would like to thank you very much for taking part in the exchange program and I am grateful to you for choosing me for the next 10 months. My name is Léonie and I live in a small town near Lyon. As far as my home life is concerned, I live with my parents and have an older brother called Baptiste who will soon be 17. Like me, he wanted to take part in this exchange program and is currently doing a year in California. For me, my brother is one of the inspirations in my life and a great support. Seeing him do an exchange year is already preparing me mentally for being separated from my family for 10 months, and it's made me even more determined to do an exchange year myself. As far as I'm concerned, I'm quite a friendly and sociable person, and from what my friends and family say, I'm very keen to take part in this exchange program. I'm also sometimes shy and timid but I'm working every day to improve on this point and I think this year can also help me. I'm also sensitive, but I consider this a strength because I can easily understand people and listen to them. I love doing activities and discovering new things. I'm also a sportswoman, I play sports twice a week. I do horse-riding and I play tennis. I also like doing different sports like climbing, badminton and skiing. I've been skiing since I was a little girl and I'm lucky enough to ski twice a year. I've been told I'm pretty versatile because I like to do different things like cook, read, listen to music, watch TV shows, help people and do crafts. I really enjoy sharing moments with my friends and family. I really enjoy animals, nature, walking to discover new landscapes and traveling.I like to take photos and videos of every place I visit, so that I can remember those magical moments or share them with friends and family. I've already traveled several times; I've been to the United States twice, Canada, Italy and Spain.I love new experiences and would like to get involved in your life and projects to discover your lifestyle, which must surely be different from mine in France. Living in another country for 10 months can be a challenge for me, as it's the first time I've spent so much time away from home on my own, but I think I'll get a lot out of it. As I said, I love music and have been able to go to concerts. I'm ready to adapt to another way of life and discover new traditions. Regarding the courses, I work well and my favorite subjects are mathematics and English. This year I entered a new high school and I was able to meet new people and make new friends quite quickly. My father works in the environmental and decontamination sector, and my mother is a works manager in the energy sector.I get along well with my family and I hope to be part of your family as well. I'm not yet sure about the career I want to pursue. I am leaning towards a business school so I can also study abroad during this time.
