Dear future host family,
My name is Annaelle but everybody calls me Anna. We don't know each other yet but I can't wait to meet you already and learn about you. I am writing to express my excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to join your family.
I can't get of my mind the thought of living in a new country with new people, with a different culture and becoming part of a family that i don't even know yet.
I’m really excited to soon be joining your family and wanted to take the opportunity to tell you a little more about myself.
To start, I have to admit that i tend to be a little shy when i first meet new people, but actually i think it’s something normal for everyone. I’m somewhere between the middle of extroverted and introverted.
I might seem a little quiet at the beginning, but once I get comfortable and start to know the people around me, I relax and become much more at ease. I love joking around and think I have a good sense of humor, at least, I hope so! I enjoy socializing, sharing laughs, and being around others, but I also appreciate moments of quiet and downtime. My favorite moments of the day is when i get home after a hard working day and i can relax, watch a movie with a candle lights and cookies with or without my family. This is so precious to me !!
I think you will understand that quickly but I’m a huge fan of cinema. I could spend hours talking about movies. I believe that movies have a way of connecting people, no matter where they come from. So, if you enjoy watching movies too, I’d love to have some movie nights together! Maybe we could share our favorite films or discover new ones.
I’m also a big animal lover. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or even smaller pets like rabbits, I’ve always felt a strong connection with animals because my mom is a veterinarian so I’m used to animals. They bring so much joy and calmness to life. If you have any pets, I’d be more than happy to help out with taking care of them—whether it’s feeding, walking, or simply spending time with them. Besides cinema and animals, I love spending time outdoors. I enjoy going for walks, exploring new places, and just being in nature. If your family enjoys outdoor activities like going for hikes, having picnics, or exploring new spots, I’d be thrilled to join. In my day-to-day life, I also enjoy listening to music, and cooking. I find cooking to be a great way to unwind, and I’d be happy to help prepare meals or even share some of my favorite dishes with you.
One thing I would love for you to know about me is that I have been dreaming of living in the U.S. for a long time. I’ve always been fascinated by American culture, especially through movies and TV shows. I’ve been to New York 2 years ago and i had like the best time of my life, i felt like home and i didn’t wanna to came back to France (even though i love my country). This travel made me want to discover others cities, other states in the USA.
I believe that living with an American family will allow me to really understand and appreciate the culture in a way that I never could as just a tourist. I’m also excited to explore different parts of the country, whether it’s visiting local spots or learning about the unique customs and lifestyle of your area. I feel that this experience will give me a deeper understanding of the U.S. and help me grow both personally and culturally.
In my home country, I have a very close relationship with my family and friends. I spend a lot of time with my family, whether we’re enjoying meals together or just relaxing at home. My friends and I like to hang out after school, catch up on the latest shows, or just have fun outdoors. I also take school seriously and work hard, but I always make time for the people I care about.
As for my future plans, my biggest dream is to work in the cinema industry. I’m a huge movie lover, and I’ve wanted to be part of the world of film for as long as I can remember. Going to school in the U.S. feels like a step toward making that dream come true, as I believe it will open up so many opportunities to learn about filmmaking and storytelling. I’m hoping to eventually study film in college and pursue a career behind the scenes, whether it’s directing, producing, or screenwriting.
I’m thinking of doing a short movie about this experience. I think it would be a wonderful way to capture all the moments, big and small, and share the story of this unique adventure.
I can’t express how thankful I am for this opportunity to stay with your family. I know it’s a big decision to welcome someone new into your home, and I’m truly grateful for your generosity and kindness. I’m excited to share my culture with you, learn from yours, and create unforgettable memories together.
I can’t wait to meet you and start this incredible experience!
Warm regards,
Annaelle, your future host daughter.
