Dear Future Host Family
First of all I would like to thank you for being willing to participate in the exchange program and for allowing me become a part of your family. My Name is Joel, and I am in 10th grade. I live in a small village near a big city in a house with both of my parents. My parents are in a happy marriage, and I have two siblings, both of them have already moved out because they are over 30 years old. My dad runs his own little company, and my mom is a teacher.
My favorite thing to do in my free time is dance. I am a Hip-Hop dancer since I was 10 years old, in a German Hip-Hop team. With my team, I already went to various countries like Italy, Norway and the USA. I was already twice in America in Orlando with my team at the Summit Championships. In the Season 2022–23, we made it to the finals and made 4th place. And in the season 2023/24, we won. I am also taking Piano lessons, and I used to take guitar and drumming lessons. I am also an actor and voice actor here in Germany. As an actor, I already played in some German commercials and shows, and I played in one film. As a voice actor, I have already spoke for many shows and some movies.
That Is also the reason why I am going to a film school. At my school, we have normal German school days, plus we have extra lessons where we learn how to make our own movies and commercials. In the rest of my free time, I like to play video games. Right now I am playing Avatar Frontieres of Pandora, Gran Turismo 7, It Takes Two, and sometimes I play FIFA or NBA2K with friends. Also, I like to meet with friends. We usually meet at the home of one of us, or we meet in our local park. When we are at the park, we play basketball and talk. When we meet at the home of someone in our friend group, we usually make a sleepover, make food, watch movies and play card or board games. I already know how much I will miss my friends and my family when I am in America, but I am already now so excited to do that exchange year because I am hearing constantly how exciting an exchange year is, especially in America.
The exchange year will also be helpful for my future because, after my exchange year, I will probably be able to speak a perfect English. That could come in handy if I decide to do a job where I would need to speak English. Also, it is easier to communicate all around the world when you have a good or even perfect English.
I am also excited to learn something about the American culture, your traditions and the way you live. Thank you in advance for giving me the opportunity to live in America for a year. I am very excited and happy to get that chance because I will not have this opportunity again.
Thank you, and see you soon.
Joel
