's Letter

Dear future Host Family, I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Marlene, and I am from a small town in Germany, where I live in a house with my family. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about who I am, my family, and my interests. I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to be a part of your family and immerse myself in the American culture. So thank you very much for considering hosting me! I live with my father, Hanns-Peter, my mother, Simone, and my older brother, Max. We are a very close-knit family, and we love spending time together. My brother Max is a big part of my life as well. He is passionate about baseball and has been playing since he was a little kid with my dad and we often attend their games to cheer him on. As a family, we enjoy traveling together, playing games, watching MLB and engaging in various activities that bring us closer. Whether it's a road trip to explore a new place or a cozy night in with board games, we always find ways to enjoy each other's company. Personally, I have a variety of interests and hobbies that keep me busy. I am an avid track and field athlete, and I find great joy in running and competing. It gives me a sense of freedom and accomplishment that is hard to match. In addition to sports, I have a passion for art. I love painting and drawing, and I often spend hours working on my sketches and paintings. Art allows me to express myself in ways that words sometimes cannot. When it comes to academics, my favorite subjects are English and PE. English has always fascinated me because it opens up a world of literature, communication, and cultural understanding. I have been fortunate to visit the USA several times with my family, and these trips have sparked a deep interest in American culture. However, I believe that staying with a host family will allow me to experience the true essence of everyday life in the USA, something that tourist visits cannot fully capture. I am genuinely looking forward to attending school in the USA. I am excited to meet new friends, experience a different education system, and participate in school activities. I hope to bring my own experiences and perspectives to share with others and to learn from my peers as well. I believe that this exchange program will be an enriching experience for both my academic and personal growth. One of the things I am most excited about is the opportunity to become a part of your family. I am hopeful that we will get along well and create many wonderful memories together. I am looking forward to learning about your traditions, daily routines, and family activities. I am also excited to share my own culture and traditions with you. For example, I would love to cook some traditional German dishes for you and teach you about our customs and celebrations. I want to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for opening your home to me and allowing me to become a part of your family. I understand that hosting a student is a big commitment, and I am deeply grateful for your generosity and willingness to welcome me. I promise to be respectful, considerate, and eager to contribute to family life. I am confident that this experience will be mutually rewarding and that we will form a strong bond during my stay. Once again, thank you for giving me the chance to experience life in the USA in such an authentic and meaningful way. I am looking forward to the adventures and experiences that lie ahead and to the opportunity to build lasting friendships and connections. Warmest regards, Marlene
