's Letter
Hello dear host family,
I’m Eva, I live in France. I can’t wait to meet you and be part of your home for a year !
How to describe myself ? That’s a great question. I think that i am an open-minded person, I am open to all activities. I like to discover, learn, exchange... I am a respectful and serious girl. Moreover I am quite smiling and I like to be surrounded by smiling and optimistic people. I like to laugh and make jokes, I receive it from my father who always laughs.
My parents are still together. My mom is Sabrina, she is 44, a secretary and honestly my favourite person ever ! My dad is Alberto, he is also 44. They had another child, my little brother : Hugo, he is 11 years old and we have a 4 years gap. We don’t have much in common. Together we love to play board games.
At home, everyone is free and my parents trust us. We don’t eat together all the time because my dad works a lot and comes home very late. For the tasks, everyone store his things, i take care of my room, my laundry and the cooking. We like to do simple things, bike rides, outings with family, with friends or just playing board games.
I go to high school by bus and the ride lasts 40 minutes. I often come home late from school on weekdays. On Tuesday evening, I take dance lessons with my mother. On Thursdays, at lunchbreak I go to the sports association of my high school to play table tennis or badminton with my friends.
Apart from school (which occupies a large part of my life because, in France, we have A LOT of homework), I like to read. And to cook, at home, it's my role, my parents don't like to do it and I love it. I like to discover new ingredients, mix them and taste new flavors.
On weekends, I like to rest and prepare myself to the coming week. On Saturday morning, I go to my model club, the "Stakit club". Recently I made an Air France concord, a Mercedes 170V and I'm making an alpine A310 V6 (which I'm going to paint in pink !) I am very invested in the club, I often volunteer to hold the refreshment bar during exhibitions or even to help with the renovation of the premises (paintings, installations...). It is thanks to the help of members like me that the club stands up.
In addition, it allows me to stay busy and it makes me feel useful.
On Sundays, I hang out and do activities with my friends if I have finished all my homework. I am quite sociable (well I think), I like to talk with others to learn from them and spend a lot of time with my friends. I can't do without being surrounded by people (even if I sometimes need to find myself alone). I like to invite my friends to my house to cook, watch a good movie or just chat. They are the ones who supported me for my project to study abroad.
Besides, why do I want to try this experience ? First of all, I would like to improve my English. I also would like to discover the culture of your country. I would like thanks to you in particular to learn things and soak up American culture. Then, I think it can really make me gain maturity and autonomy. Living far from your daily life and having to create a new one will be hard for sure but I think it will be beneficial and help me a lot in my future. This project is very close to my heart, I have had it for several years now.
How to finish this letter ?
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for getting to know me. I would then like to say a thousand thanks to you for welcoming young people, like me, who want to live this incredible experience. It may not always be easy but it will be worth it. You can teach me a lot but I would teach you a lot too I'm sure. I would like you to discover the culture of my country with the recipes from here or even on our way of life and all our lifestyle habits.
I apologize in advance if I made language mistakes but I do this experiment to learn, don't I ?
See you soon hoping to hear from you and in a hurry to meet your family !!!!
Eva
