Dear future Host Family,
Thank you for being open to joining the exchange program and welcoming me into your family.
I am a girl from Germany and have just completed the 9th grade. I love to experience new things just as traveling and exploring the world. During my exchange I hope to learn more about America and it's culture.
I love reading books and watching movies. Kindness, helpfulness, creativity and humor are values that describe me best. In my freetime I play handball but I have a general love for other sports. Besides being fluent in German I have been learning French for 3 years so my French langue skills are on a decent level and I have been learning Englsch for almost 6 years now so my langue skills are on an advanced level.
Besides playing handball in my freetime I like spending time with family and friends.
I want to go on an exchange to the US because studying in an English-speaking country like the US can help and will help me improve my language skills. But also because I want to explore other cultures and other traditions. One of the main reasons why I want to go on an exchange is that I want to experience the typical american-highschool-life. While studying at an american highchool you will be able to make new friends and just in general interact with other students. The american school system is very different from the school system here in my home country so it will be a great experience to live with all these differences.
Experiencing the family life in the US is also one of my goals for the exchange because being part of an American family will allow me to see family life from a whole new sight.
Here at home I have a very good relation with my family even though sometimes there are some bigger arguments. My relation with my siblings is quite good but of course we sometimes have fights but just over small things. Back then I always used to play with my sister but because of school and just in general the missing time we often can't do activities together.
But I have an even better relation with my friends. Since I play in a sports club me and my team have a very good connection because we spend much time together at training but also in our freetime.
When I was younger I always wanted to be a doctor but now I'm not quite sure anymore. I absolved an internship at a kindergarten but during that I noticed that working in a kindergarten just isn't for me.
I'm very excited and I can't wait to meet you in person!
Greetings,
Lilja
