Dear future host family, First of all, thank you for reading my letter and taking the time. I’m very excited to be part of this exchange. I think it will be a big step for me and an exciting new chapter of my life. I’m also a bit nervous, because maybe you will be my host family and maybe I can be a part of your family. Now I want to tell you a little bit about myself. Hi, again. My name is Emmy. I live with my mom and my boxer dog in a house at the suburb of a major city in Germany. Since 3 years my mom and my dad are separated and my dad lives in an apartment in the city. I have a big family. One side of my family lives in an other city, it’s a city in the north of Germany. And the other side in my hometown. My mom has two siblings. So I have four cousins, two older ones and two younger ones. I play a lot with the younger ones. My cousins are an important part in my life because I don’t have siblings living with me. I just have an older stepbrother, but he doesn’t want the contact so I live without him. A little part of my family lives in America. My grand uncle lives in Minnesota and my grand aunt and grand cousin in New York State. The best friend of my mom and my godmother lives in Connecticut. I’ve been to the USA four times already. The first time we did a road trip on the west coast. One and a half years later we visited New York City and my godmother. In 2019 we went to Florida for a week and in 2022 I visited my family in Minnesota together with my mum. So I know the US well as a tourist, but I want to experience the life in America. My dad loves America very much. He proposed to my mom while she was pregnant with me in the Central Park in New York City. In November 2023 I took part in a three weeks exchange in Mexico. It was a wonderful experience to see the different culture and to speak Spanish. I had an exchange student. First I was in Mexico and after four months she came to Germany and stayed for three weeks. In my free time I like to go out with my friends, go to cheerleading practise or listen to music. I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. I visited her Eras Tour in Hamburg and it was the best day of my life. I’m so excited to meet new people and find new friends. I’m a very social person. I go to people and just talk with them. I’m also very helpful, if someone needs help, I’m here to help. I hope I’ll find friends in America and I can further improve my English. I would like to get to know the American culture, the American lifestyle and I would like to live my American teenage dream.
