Emma
's Letter
Hey future host family,
I hope you are doing good. Thank you for participating in the program and considering me as your host student.
My name is Emma and I‘m from a small village in Germany. Actually, I can’t imagine living in a big city. I live in a house with my 1.5 years older sister Lara and my mother. My dad moved out almost two years ago. I only see him when he picks us up after practice.
I have my own room. I‘m visiting eight grade right now. I am in a bilingual class which means that parts of biology and geography are in English. Then of course are my favourite subjects English, biology, geography and PE. In my class there is a girl named Clara and she is my best friend. We love doing activities like ice skating or shopping but we also love chilling and watching TV.
In my free time, I really love going out for short walks and listening to music. I also adore animals, especially dogs. I always wanted one but never got one. When I grew up we had two rabbits but they sadly died. When I do not study for school right now then I‘m probably at cheer practice. We practice two to four times a week. I am an allstar cheerleader which means that we go on competitions. I can proudly say that I am a part of this team. Because of cheer, I made many new friends and my bests. I enjoy every minute with my favourite girls.
I would appreciate it if I could do this at my high school. My sister and I love spending time together. She has a boyfriend that is like a big brother to me. I also love travelling especially to the water.
I have my own stand-up paddle board and in the summers I go to a lake and paddle there. My mom is supporting me in everything but is also brutally honest. I think I‘ve got this from her. I‘ve always been a sporty person. In the past, I‘ve done many sports like dancing, tennis, Trampoline, gymnastics and more. But sometimes I don’t feel like doing anything, I just stay at home and watch TV.
If I had to describe myself in three words it would be funny, inquisitive and adventurous. I love new adventures when the adrenaline is pumping. It’s so much fun. I‘m open for new things. I love baking. It’s like therapy for me. I often bake birthday cakes for friends or family members. Maybe I can bake some German traditional food for your or even better we can bake something together or I show you how to do it. I‘m learning right now how to cook German traditional food, so that I can show you how and what we eat in Germany. I live in a neighbourhood where many little kids live and sometimes I play with the kids outside like hide and seek. I would love to babysit but I‘m not old enough. I don‘t have many chores at home but the chore I have, I have to do it right. I have to keep my room clean, take out the trash, do the laundry if necessary, set the table, fill and empty the dishwasher. In spring and in summer I help my mother in the garden. On the weekends I help my mom to cook dinner. I also take out the newspaper for some extra money. My grandma take a big part in my life as well. I like going for a sleepover at her place oder just playing games together.
Maybe you will be my match and we‘ll meet soon! Hopefully your future exchange student from Germany, Emma.
