Dear future Host Family, At first, I want to thank you for being willing to participate in the exchange program, I am very grateful for this opportunity you giving all the exchange students. Now something about me, my name is Lilly and I am a girl from Germany. I live together with my parents, we live in a flat in a small town near a bigger city. I don’t have any siblings but I do have a cat, Oreo. My Mom is a physiotherapist and my dad is an industrial engineer. I am very close with my parents and I hope I can become a part of our family as well. That is actually one of the reasons I want to make an exchange year, so when you are traveling you always gone be a tourist but when you live in a family who knows the city and country you really get to know the culture. And I think I never get the chance again to experience a country like that. Right now, I am attending 9th class. My favorite subject in school is History, I like it because I like to learn about Historical events and I like to learn more about my and other cultures. And I hope I can also learn more about the American culture in my exchange year. I am very excited to go to High school in the U.S. because it’s just something new and different. I know it won’t be that different from school in Germany, but just the fact that everything is English makes me excited. After school I want to make Abitur and then go to Uni. I don’t know my main subject in Uni yet but I think maybe something with animals or nature like marine biology, or something completely different like media. But whatever job I am going to have, I really want to travel in my job or just earn a lot of money so I can travel. I really like to listen to music, my favorite singer is Taylor Swift. But I also like reading, I usually read in genres like Romance or Crime. But in my free time I also like to do sports, sometimes I just go on walks but I also do work outs at home. In the summer I also like to go swimming, I live near a lake so we can always go to the beach. When we have good weather I also sometimes ride my bike, to visit friends or just to go to school. I am a little bit introverted but straightforward and fun-loving person. I also love trying out new things. I am also a creative person, in Germany I am in an art club. It would be nice to also go to an Art club in America but I would also love to try out other clubs. Here in Germany I tried a lot of different sports like rowing, dancing, running and yoga. At home I help in the kitchen or I do the laundry, I don’t have chores that I do every day but always help when my Parents ask. But when I go to America I don’t just want to get to know the American culture I also want to share a little bit of the German culture, for example some typical German food or a German holidays. I am so excited to finely go to the USA and make my own unforgettable memories. I am also looking forward to meeting you and becoming a part of your family. Warm Regards, Lilly
