Dear host family, Thank you so much for giving me the possibility to realize my dream to do an exchange year in the USA. My name is Shani. It’s the heroin’s name of the saga “Dune” ! I’m from France. I live with my both parents Koralie and Julien and my little sister Otylie who is 13. We have a strong relationship together. To convince them to let me do an exchange year abroad, I have made a slideshow after a lot of researches. They accepted almost instantly because I have always been a nice daughter and a good student so they understood why it’s my dream and what it will give me. They supported me a lot on my project. To describe myself I would say I’m a quiet person, kind, generous and hardworking but also a bit impatient, quite shy and reserved. I can be very fun with people who know me well, my best-friends can reinforce it ! I like taking time alone but also spending time with my family or friends. I really need both of that moments. I hope that do an exchange year will give me the possibility to improve and grow up on some aspects of my personality like my shyness for example. I want to get out of my comfort zone and grow up to become more independent and outgoing. I’m ready to work on me to improve myself. I know the skills I’ll earn, not only the English skills, will help me after, in my whole life. Physically I’m of medium height, with brown hair and brown eyes. I wear glasses because I’m as blind as a bat ! As I said before, I have always been a good student with good grades. I think work is key. I want to make my parents proud and because I have high ambitions I need to work hard to realize my goals. I rather love go to school, sometimes I find it boring but I know it’s such an important part of life and I have to enjoy because it’s a chance. My favorite subjects are Math and English. I had the idea to do an exchange year instantly when I knew it was possible. First I wanted to go to the USA to do a study year but I did researches and I found high school programs. I immediately knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. I definitely choose the USA because I want to feel like I live in my TV, like in movies and series. I find this country so attractive by it diversity and it culture. The traditions are so different than the Frenches and I really want to discover as much as possible how live American people. I have never wanted to choose any states or regions. In my opinion every state has it particularities and wherever I’ll be placed I’ll live a magical adventure and I’ll discover a lot of things, grow up on myself and for sure live my dream. I don’t have any preferences. I’m ready for everything because I am so motivated. My principal hobby is motor-sports. I can’t explain why ! Maybe because my two parents are bikers. We love riding motorcycles together ! It also started by my father who have watched MotoGP since his adolescence. Sometimes I watched with him races and then I learned rider’s names or teams names. During the COVID era, I began to watch the races every weekends. A French and young rider was a rookie the same season and I become his fan. I will be forever a Fabio Quartararo fan ! Since now, 4 seasons, I don’t miss any races or any practices. I am a huge fan of MotoGP. I have been in my first grand-prix at Le Mans in 2022. I loved the atmosphere there ! Now we go every year to the French grand-prix ! It’s our favorite weekend of the year each time. Moreover I spend this weekend with my aunt and my cousins who also love MotoGP so it’s insane ! Next, I started watching Formula One races and I really liked it. My favorite riders are Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton. I have discovered motocross this year and I love it now. I’ll learn more about American motor-sports like NASCAR or Indicar and all others I don’t know yet. In the future, I want to become a journalist especially a motor-sports journalist so it’s clearly my first interest center. Except motor-sports, I love others sports. Since the Paris Olympic Games I also like watching basket-ball, volley-ball or table tennis and I discovered fencing and swimming for instance. I really got interested by everything. I practice indoor climbing. I love it because I can recharge my batteries and clean my mind. I like running. I do it alone on mornings or evenings. I enjoy skiing too. Every year I go with my family in vacations in the mountains for a ski week. We love that ! Winter ski holidays are my favorites ! In my free time I like reading, playing with my sister, listening to music. I love writing too, I need to write every day to talk about everything and nothing. I also like scrap-booking. With my family we love playing water-volleyball in our swimming-pool, watching movies, hiking, we also love amusement park. We have already been to the biggest amusement parks in Europa.
