Our cultural strength has always been derived from our diversity of understanding and experience. ~ Yo-Yo Ma
Every November, the Department of State sponsors International Education Week (IEW). This week offers a special opportunity for all exchange students to represent their home countries and foster cultural exchange through presentations to their communities about their culture and traditions.
In conjuncture with IEW, Ayusa holds a special contest and all Ayusa students who conduct presentations for IEW can participate! To participate, students simply present to their host community about their country – history, traditions, culture, and more! Students can present more than once and to a wide variety of groups, from peers at their high school to local volunteer clubs in their community to retirement communities and local religious institutions and more!
Participating in IEW is not only fun and fulfilling, but also has great rewards for the most dedicated students! The most impressive entry will earn that student a free Belo tour of an American city. Second and third place entries will win a camera.
The contest is only open to current Ayusa students. Please note that participation in IEW is mandatory for YES students.
To enter, follow the below instructions:
- Make a presentation for IEW!
- Complete both the Application and Letter of Recommendation forms
- Send both forms to Ayusa along with any photos, videos, news clippings or anything that will help you stand out
All entries must be postmarked by November 27. Students can email their entries to contests@ayusa.org or mail them to:
