AYUSA Students are Natural Learners
Before an AYUSA student is formally admitted to our program, they must demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning and a sincere desire to achieve in the American classroom. Their course transcript must reflect a consistency of effort and a level of mastery comparable to their American peers. They must provide us with strong references from instructors who are well acquainted with their character, as well as academic performance. Though it is never easy studying in a second language, every AYUSA student looks forward to the challenges and rewards of a cross-cultural education.
AYUSA Students are Strong English Speakers
Every AYUSA student participates in an extensive personal interview, evaluating their maturity, strength of goals, and the ability to express themselves solely in English. In addition to this interview, a qualified English instructor examines their English comprehension levels for reading, writing and speaking. Separate scores are determined for each, and the overall ability must be strong enough for complete participation in an American high school.
AYUSA Students Seek Enrichment Beyond the Classroom
AYUSA believes that a rewarding school experience must include participation in extra-curricular activities beyond the classroom. Whether shooting hoops on the basketball court, playing an instrument in the school band, or working on the yearbook, our students learn the true meaning of school spirit by sharing their talents and skills with newfound friends and teammates.
Community Service is a Way to Give Thanks
AYUSA exchange students look forward to donating time and energy as a way of showing their appreciation. Side by side, they join their classmates washing cars, raising funds, planting flowers and just helping out wherever needed. Through AYUSA's official partners Kiwanis and Key Clubs, AYUSA students enjoy being part of a group effort, while attending planning meetings and participating in long-term service projects.
